lyrics

Oh lover, oh lover, lover wake up
Tell me there’s something a heaven above
Say that you love me, oh say that you’ll stay
As the blood drips from my veins my vision turns grey

But something seems wrong dear just behind your gaze
Your eyes stare at nothing; they’re wrapped in a glaze
Tell me oh lover you’ll always be mine
And someday I’ll see you on the other side

Oh and you’ll see I’m not such a beast
I’m only a ghost and I’ve lost all my teeth
And oh how I know that we’ll drown in this flood
But I swear I’ll trade my breath for your love

He stands atop a burning bridge
Her lifeless form held in his hands
Insanity on either shore
She begged no more, she breathes no more

Oh how he cries out to the night
‘Where is my sun? Where is my light?’
He lays her on death’s broken throne
And he takes up a shattered stone

Oh how he holds her hallowed corpse
He’s gripping thorns, his voice is hoarse
He beats her breast, he begs her breathe
He knows she’s gone but can’t believe

Oh how he tries to let her go
To bury her in memory’s snow
To rid his mind of this awful tryst
A shattered stone sticks in his wrist

Oh on that bridge those lovers lie
And from his lips escapes a sigh
He sees her blood, oh how he shouts
‘Out damn spot out, out damn spot out’

Oh, he says ‘so this is how we end’
He sighs, ‘so long, farewell, goodbye’

He lays his cheek upon her hair
Though its golden shine’s no longer there
He hates himself for what he’s done
She was his shade, she was his sun

He never thought it’d end like this
Two lovers fallen ins abyss
The first snow falls as lovers lie
He sighs once more to her goodbye

He sighs to her goodbye; ‘farewell my love, goodbye’
He takes her hand and dies, and sighs once more goodbye

He sighs ‘so long, farewell, goodbye’
Oh she fades, and oh deaths awful throne makes her its slave

Oh he takes her hand, as their streams meet
And so his heart slows to her beat

Oh how they lie upon that bridge
Two concrete forms with twisted limbs
He holds her tight, he understands
She slips away like so much sand

That shattered stone sticks in his wrist
Erasing memories of their tryst
And so they drown in the blackest snow
Her hand in his, he can’t let go

So this is how we end
Bitter corpses, barely friends
He takes her hand and dies
But sighs once more goodbye

So long, farewell, goodbye

Oh on that bridge that’s burning bright
The lovers sink into the night
And so their sins their love forgives
His hand in hers, her hand in his

Below that bridge the gyre flows
The lovers grip their wilted rose
Their frozen lips produce no sighs
They birth no words, they speak no lies

They watch their black sun rise
With no life behind their eyes

All angry beasts leap from their chests
To tell the world of the lovers’ deaths
The world as one together cries
‘So long dear ones, farewell, goodbye’

Oh how they lie upon that bridge
As their two souls fall off a ridge
And soon enough no one will know
What’s buried there beneath the snow

No one will speak of that awful day
And soon their memory fades away
The wind picks up, as if to sigh
‘So long dear ones, fare well, goodbye’

Oh goodbye.
